Joys and Dreams Of A Single Dad

/

What is your favorite moment in your everyday?

When I get off work.

I actually also really like stepping out into the fresh air in the morning after I’ve had my cup of coffee. Especially on summer mornings, it feels really soothing.

What does your perfect weekend look like?

Total hygge! Together with people I know well, delicious food, sun out in the yard and hygge hygge hygge… Spontaneous gatherings with people I like. Relaxing in the company of good friends and laughing, having fun.

Note: Hygge is a Danish concept we use to describe a certain feeling or vibe. You can read my interpretation of “hygge” in this little article written for Royal Talens: Hygge – How to apply it to your daily life

What do you dream of doing?

I dream of getting an even faster car than my BMW 335D or getting a motorbike – I am actually looking at Suzuki GSXR 1000R or Aprilia RSV4 at the moment. I also often daydream about my projects, for example fixing my moped. I don’t have particularly ambitious dreams.

Otherwise, I would really like to travel more, drive to different countries.

What are you excited about at the moment?

My daughter, Flora and I are going to see Møns Klint, I’m really excited about that.

I’m also looking forward to selling some stuff in order to buy my new car or motorbike and I’m ecstatic about all the cozy summer moments coming up.

Note: Møns Klint is the highest cliff in Denmark. If you are interested you can read more about it here.

What does your dream vacation look like?

At home

Preferably it should be something really cozy or fun with people I know well and without any kind of expectations. We should be able to do whatever we want.

I live with a lot of people I like, so it’s just nice to meet in the yard, sit and have fun, laugh and chat.

Another culture

My dream holiday would probably be going to another country, where there is exciting food and to experience another culture. For example, my father told me about Vietnam… He described how hardworking they are and that the women’s clothing store is right next to the blacksmith. The blacksmith could be standing with some big gate that sticks far out into the road right next to the women’s clothing which would need to be covered.

I would really like to experience something like that; A place where they live more in cohesion.

Total freedom

Or a road trip (without children), where you can just drive wherever you want with enough money to sleep in a hotel if you need to.

Maybe a cube that decides which way you drive so you’ll see a lot of different unexpected things, I think that would be pretty cool.

Total freedom. If you see a restaurant you want to go to, you just stop and go in and eat there. If you want to stay there for a few days because you like the place, then you just do that.

I did it a bit when I was young, it was great. I still am, very young, but then I was only 18 and had just gotten my driver’s license. I drove a hell of a lot then and was very spontaneous.

When do you feel most alive?

When my life is in danger.

I was once about to drive down a 20 meter deep hole on a Cross machine. I drove right past the edge and avoided it. Then I thought; “Wauw! It’s great to be alive!”. After that I took my life up for revision, but of course you shouldn’t seek that; to be in mortal danger. But also just when I rode and raced motorbikes, I felt quite alive.

Otherwise, I think I feel pretty alive in general. Now I probably feel most alive when I’m having fun, and I have a lot of fun!
