Poem 1/9 in Chapter 1 “To You, who got lost on your way and Those, who followed other’s instead of their own”
Interpretation
As I mentioned in the introduction to this Collection of Poetry the first chapter is about being trapped in the ego where we can’t see clearly.
I think this poem is an image of the dance we’re doing whenever we’re afraid to be vulnerable.
It is also an expression for the tendency to double standards; “I won’t give myself to you because I’m afraid of getting hurt or humiliated. Therefore I want you to give yourself to me, be vulnerable and say you’ll love me no matter what I do”…
It sounds kind of crazy when you put it like that right?
Yet I think a lot of us will be able to see this pattern in ourselves just in different versions. If however we are ready to be honest and take a look at the parts of us, we may not appreciate very much. The parts some may call shadows.
The shadow being that we don’t like if someone plays games and are unattainable, while we act exactly the same yet in our own way.
Shortly explained, shadows are the things we don’t like in others but neglect to see in ourselves.
If you want to dive a little deeper into this subject I recommend the book called “The Shadow Effect” by Chopra, Ford & Williamson.
